Programme Organisers

TEAM

What are we actually doing?

We aim to gain an in-depth understanding of the material properties in microgravity in order to help building the future extra-terrestrial settlements and begin a new era of space colonization. Therefore we will use a LASER beam to weld different types of materials, to check their reliability and usefulness in space in comparison with their properties on the Earth. The rocket will help us send our project up into space, at almost zero-G and use the magnificent properties of the space to obtain new and unexpected results.

Special Thanks to:

European Space Agency, for organizing such a wonderful programme

Our mentor: Mr. Koen DeBeule (ESA)

Our coordinating professors from
Polytehnic University of Bucharest Romania: PhD Prof. Mihai Stafe and PhD Prof. Petrisor Parvu
University of Durham, UK: Ph.D Prof. Simon Morris and Ph.D Prof Paul Clark

"The REXUS/BEXUS programme is realised under a bilateral Agency Agreement between the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) and the Swedish National Space Board (SNSB). The Swedish share of the payload has been made available to students from other European countries through a collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA).

EuroLaunch, a cooperation between the Esrange Space Centre of SSC and the Mobile Rocket Base (MORABA) of DLR, is responsible for the campaign management and operations of the launch vehicles. Experts from ESA, SSC and DLR provide technical support to the student teams throughout the project.

REXUS and BEXUS are launched from SSC, Esrange Space Center in northern Sweden."

News

  • We have arrived in Kiruna, Sweeden at Esrange Space Center. Between 19th of May and 1 st of June 2014 it will be the launch campaign. The rocket with our experiment (REXUS 16) is been planned to be launched on 27 th of May.

  • We have had our EAR (Experiment Acceptance Review) and it was very good. Thank you, Alex Kinnaird, for coming in Romania!

  • We have just won the HANS VON MULDAU Team Award for the Best Team Project at International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2013) in Beijing, China. You can read our article here.
